DropZone - File Uploader

DropZone is a powerful file uploader for Adobe Muse. This highly-requested widget creates a simple drag and drop container to easily and instantly upload files to the website's server.

Options include custom status message text, manual file type entry, loading options and more. Our widget even sends an email notification when new files have been uploaded!

Setup

  • Open the DropZone .zip file. Once unzipped, you will find the DropZone .mulib library file plus 3 .php files. Store the php files somewhere handy. Double click the .mulib file to load it into your Muse Library.
  • If you intend to take advantage of email notifications, you will need to make a simple edit to the mt-dropzone-email.php file. Open this file in any text editor (TextEdit, Notepad, Sublime Text, etc). Change the "musethemes.dev@gmail.com" address to the address you wish to receive email notifications. Save the changes.

Note: If you're using TextEdit to update the email address, make sure to turn off the Smart Quotes function: Edit > Substitutions > uncheck Smart Quotes.

  • Back in Muse, open the widget option panel and add the .php files. Click "Add File" and select each file individually: mt-dropzone-uploader.php, mt-dropzone-remover.php, and the mt-dropzone-email.php file that was updated with the new email address.
  • At this point, the basic configuration is complete. The 4 sections in the widget option panel allow for file settings (max file size, upload limit, etc), text responses, and DropZone style settings.
  • The final step is to ensure that your site is uploaded to a hosting service for testing. DropZone is not compatible with Adobe's Business Catalyst. Hosting must be through a service such as GoDaddy, HostGator, or Bluehost. You can use an FTP service such as FileZilla, or use the FTP uploader built into Muse's Publish function. No special actions are needed during this step, as long as the .php files have been loaded into the widget option panel as described in step 3 above.
  • Once you publish your site to your hosting provider, try uploading a few files. You should receive an email notification following any file upload or removal (if file removal is enabled in the widget options).


By default, files will be uploaded to the Assets/Uploads folder on your server. You can access these files using an FTP service such as Filezilla or through your server's CPanel. Files are also accessible as links in the notification emails.


There may occasionally be a delay in receiving email notifcations.


The "Maximum Files to Upload" setting in the widget panel pertains to the number of files uploaded in a single browser session. This refreshes any time a page is loaded or reloaded.


Compatibility

This widget is not compatible with Adobe's Business Catalyst hosting. Your site will need to be hosted by your own provider such as GoDaddy, HostGator, Bluehost, etc. Email notification requires simple modification of a PHP file, and can be done in a basic text editor.
